About Lola
Biography
LOLA EVANS™, who is a writer, photographer and illustrator, was born in Munich, Bavaria, South-Germany on August 29th 1978. Lola calls London as her "literal and artistic hometown", as it was there that her career in literature started.
At the age of sixteen, Lola started writing and worked for fourteen hard years to achieve her life's dream of becoming a professional writer. After many ups and downs, she finally succeeded in her dream and proved that it's possible to make a dream come true. She credits her success to determination, discipline, hard work, persistence and faith in herself.
Lola was nominated for the European Literary Award 2003 and also in 2004 for up-and-coming-writers. She also became a Honorary Member of the WWA (World Writers Association, London) and received a scholarship for a creative writing in Germany, an honour bestowed on promising new writers.
After the international poetry competition in 2002, in which Lola participated and won, her poem was published in a famous German poetry book which was then been published in Vienna, Washington D.C., Paris and Tokyo. Lola was honoured in 2005 with a publication of her previously published poem, "Childhood" (German: Kindheit), in a European anthology of the best German poems of the 21st century.
After four hard years of research on the death penalty, and personal contact with an innocent Afro-American prisoner in Texas for several years, Lola wrote her first English novel "Black Skin White Skin", which tries to explain how innocent victims are confronted with the death penalty in the USA in an extremely unfair and often vile and racist way.
But also animals are important to Lola and thus she is an active member for animal organisations such as WSPA and PETA.
Lola comes from her father's side from a Viennese designer family, which is also very musical. Lola plays piano and guitar and is a singer in her spare-time. Lola presently studies French and Public Relations at a German College besides her literal career. She also is preparing herself for her state exam in translations in the field of social sciences in order to become a publicly appointed and sworn translator.
Presently, Lola is working on a new novel, which deals with internet corruption in Nigeria, Africa. She writes this book as she made a horrible experience in 2009 on her own and now tries to put it into a novel, trying to help other people, especially her generation, of not becoming a victim as well.
