Inspirations

I think it’s a good idea to show to you what inspires me to create my own art. Inspirations are the driving force for good art and I want to let you know where I get my inspirations from and why. I have several fields I get my inspiration from. First comes the music. This is one of my greatest inspirations anway. The following artists shall show you in which way they inspire me.

Donna Summer – since the mid 80’s I am big Donna Summer Fan. When one day my father came up with a LP of Donna Summer called „Mac Arthur Park Live“ he already bought in the 70‘s, I think I was about 8 to 9 years old around that time, I knew right from then that she is real inspiration. Because today, where I finally have come much closer to my aim being an artist, these melodies always remind me of the time when I still was that little girl waiting so eagerly for the chance of doing what I can do best, being an artist. Donna Summer’s voice has so much of glory and uniqueness. She spreads so much energy, once she hits a tone and I simply love her songs which are so full of melody. Especially in these days, where music sounds more and more the same, and people love more to become famous than to become a fantastic singer,  I am so proud of calling myself as a true Donna Summer fan and of having made my musical experiences, mostly in the 80’s with Donna Summer. I learned a lot from her in a musical way.

Michael Jackson – he is my master of music. He is the male Donna Summer. So full of voice, so full of talent. When I was 6 years old, in 1983,my father bought the album „Thriller“ and I was enthralled by this gay sound. A young girl like I used to be then, jumping round to this sound, I never stopped moving once I heard his music. I also grew up with Motown Music, thus also the Jackson Five, so I also sang songs like „Rockin‘ Robin“ as well as  „Billy Jean“.  I was never interested in all the silly things the tabloids spread around as I never believed them. I was much more interested in Michael‘s music. Everybody wants to be Michael Jackson. He is the epitome of talent and fame. I will be loving Michael Jackson’s music forever.

Tina Turner – another great icon. You see I am real 80’s girl. I still had the chance to grow up with such fantastic musicians and what all of these musicians have in common is not only their great talent but that all of them worked hard for their success. Tina Turner really affected me so much, when I saw her movie „What’s love got to do with it“. It moved me to tears. Her turmoils in life nevertheless made her a strong woman, and she is a real icon to me as I can see from her own life, that never giving up, pays off. I also once wrote an essay in school about her and so I had to find out what her life was really about. Thus Anna Mae Bullock or better known to you as Tina Turner, is the quintessence of the American Dream – the poor black girl who became a famous rock star. She is a living legend. And she has so much deserved it.

Phil Collins – I am  a big Jazz fan and if there is someone who can combine Pop with Jazz, it’s Phil Collins. Moreover, what always inspires me with him is that right from the start in the 80’s, he was one of those stars who always stood up and tried to make a change in the world, especially the poor, especially the children. He has a big heart, an enormous amount of talent, great voice, funky beats and lots of humour. I know all of these although I have never met him in my life. But it’s his great personality which only some people have in this world. It’s a real gift. He is a real Superstar to me along with all the stars I have mentioned so far and will be mentioning. You need personality and real talent to become a real superstar and the genuine love for music and NOT fame. Only being interested in stardom won’t let you become this what all of these wonderful musicians have become. I grew up with musicians which are real icons. Phil Collins is one of them.

MYLENE FARMER  - I love her for being so french and unique, so mysterious and sexy. I love her for breaking taboos without revealing too much of her own persona but staying true to herself. She is fiercly loved by the French, which call her „belle rousse“. I feel inspired by her because of all the things she represents and because she doesn’t let herself become a puppet of music industry. She looks fragile but is a strong woman with a big sense of big business. What I love most about her is that she is not, like many other artists, all the time in the papers, but only at certain times. She therefore keeps her anonymity and always raises great interest, an unbelieveable hysteria in France.

KYLIE MINOGUE – I have been listening to her music since she has entered pop business.I own all of her LP’s (yes, you have read rightly) and I also loved her music when she wasn’t that succesful at the end oft he 90’s. She had a tough time, almost forgotten and then shooted up to Superstardom in the year 2000, now having become the most influential pop star in Great Britain and NOT Madonna. For such a long time I am a very big fan of her music and she inspires me for being so natural, so woman, so powerful and for staying true to herself. Kylie is the angel of the music industry which is more than welcome due tot he fact that most of the artists are selfish and big egos.

U2/BONO – you can say what you want, but I LOVE U2 and even more Bono. I think of all the musicians I mentioned so far, U2 are my greatest inspiration anyway. I feel so close to them as I already had to go through so many turmoils, had to deal with almost unbearable destinies. U2 and especially Bono showed me with their music and words, that there is always a way to carry on. No matter if it’s in the political or social actions Bono takes on his own, of his lyrics in his songs or simply the melody which always let me feel better. It’s kind of psychotherapy to me listening to their music, because so much of these things Bono sings about, I have already adventured. That’s why I feel so close to them. U2 – my true heroes.

Elvis Presley – he is definitely one of my greatest heroes ever. Everybody who knows a little bit about his biography, knows that he was the underdog and worked his way up to real stardom and this beyond death. He is unique to me, I am always inspired by his music, his words and the actions he always took to let black music see in a different ways. He did so much for the blacks for being accepted in the USA. Elvis is a myth, he is a legend and one of the best musicians the world has ever seen. The true and only King of Rock n‘ Roll.

Billy Idol – my rock hero from the 80’s. With Billy Idol I learned to forget about to always suit the others but going your own way. His music really gives me strength to carry own with my life.  He truly stand for punk rock and real life and this is more than vital in days where only stardom and glamour counts. Billy Idol is standing for my roots.

Mozart – Now among of all the rock and popstars the greatest popstar of Baroque. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was always one of the greatest inspirations to me since I am 7 years old as his music is much more than boring classical music. It always has a message combined with a beautiful melody. What really impressed me also as a child was that this genius of music always found a way to write such beautiful music in a time which was pestered by death and diseases and no electricity and journeys which took him days or weeks until he arrived. For me he is the greatest popstar of all times.
